IMPORTANT EVENT(S)

Celebration of INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF FORESTS, 2011 from 16th June 2011:
The Vidyalaya organised a grand programme to celebrate the INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF FORESTS, 2011 (as declared by UN). Sri P.Shivakumar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Digboi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the programme. The school felicitated him and other officials with phulam gamocha and cap. He delivered an inspiring speech to the children on the students’ role in protecting the environment. He also related why he chose the career in forestry. Other distinguished guests present in the programme were Sri Arun Kumar Nath,  Sr. Civil Engineer, NEC,  Sri Maloy Das, Sr. Manager, NEC, Sri D.B.Sonar, President, Lions’ Club Margherita, Sri S.N. Gayan, ACF, Digboi, Sri P.C. Lahakar, Forest Range Officer, Sri S.Baruah, Forest Range Officer, Lekhapani and Sri Surendra Shah, Commissioner, Municipality Corporation, Tamil Nadu. After the DFO’s address, he launched the plantation drive in the school campus. After the puja ritual, a total of 150 seedlings were planted in the school campus, while about a thousand seedlings were freely distributed among the students under the aegis of the DFO, Digboi Division. 

Raksha Bandhan Celebration at Bisagaon Anandalaya:
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at Bisagaon Anandalaya on 13th August 2011. Sri P. N. Rajan, Nominee Chairman, VMC, Sri P. V. Ramesan, Principal and Sri Tarini Kanta Sarma, a teacher of the Vidyalaya, visited the Anandalaya on the occasion. The students presented a patriotic song and a rakhi-tying session followed this.  

Talk on Health and Hygiene:
Dr. Manab Brata Gogoi, a doctor from Coal India Hospital, delivered a talk on Health and Hygiene with PowerPoint Presentation before the students of classes VI to X. on 24th August 2011.

Dr. T. G. K. Murthy’s Speech:
The Vidyalaya organized a speech by Dr. T. G. K. Murthy, former ISRO scientist and currently Advisor to Department of Technology, Govt. of India, at Margherita College, Margherita on 24th September 2011. On the same day he interacted with the students and the teachers of the Vidyalaya also in two separate sessions. The topics ranged from ‘Swami Vivekananda: An Intuitive Scientist’ to ‘India’s journey into Space’.

Samskar Varga for Class V students:
Three sessions of Samskar Varga for the students of classes V (94 students) and VI (92 students) were conducted in September and October 2011 by the students of class VIII who had attended the Samskar Varga Prashikshan Shibir at VKV Dibrugarh.

Declamation Competition:

A Declamation Competition on the Chicago Address was held at the Vidyalaya on the occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day celebrated belatedly on 12th September 2011. A total of 27 students from 8 schools of the vicinity took part in the competition. The prizes and the certificates were given away by Sri P. N. Rajan, Nominee Chairman, VMC. Smt. Deepashri Das Sarkar, Lecturer of Enghish, Margherita College, was invited as one of the judges for the competition.
