CELEBRATIONS
Raksha Bandhan (13th Aug.): RakshaBandhan was celebrated this year also by visiting different places in groups. Students were sent in groups escorted by 2 or 3 teachers to their respective places for tying Rakhis. A teacher delivered a speech highlighting the significance of the occasion. There was a Rakhi-tying session at the Vidyalaya too. However, because of a ‘bandh’ declared on the day many students could not attend the programme. Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at Bisagaon Anandalaya (run by this Vidyalaya) as well. Along with the Principal and two other teachers Shri P.N. Rajan, Nominee Chairman, VMC, also attended the programme there.
Independence Day (15th Aug.): The celebration started with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal, who delivered a speech on the significance of the day. This was followed by speeches by a teacher and two students. A Patriotic Song was sung by a group of students thereafter.
A team of students of the Vidyalaya took part in a March-Past Competition in the celebration organised by the Civil Administration in the Central Field, Margherita and bagged the first prize.
Janmastami (22nd Aug.): The celebration started with a Puja, which was followed by a speech by a teacher on the occasion. A Group Dance by the students of Class-KG, a Krishna Bhajan by a student and a House-wise Solo Dance Competition enthralled the teachers as well as parents present. An innovative Pot-breaking display was the most enjoyable programme. The pot marked ‘Corruption’ was hung from a rope above and our students climbing one over the other broke the pot with a coconut marked ‘Anna’ signifying the end of corruption in line with the ‘Anna-Movement’ spread nation-wide then. The programme was admired and enjoyed by everybody. Prasad distribution brought an end to the celebration.
SrimantaShankardevTithi (30th Aug.): A teacher delivered a speech on the significance of the day. Two Bargeets by two students, a Diha-Naam by the students of Classes IX and X and a Satriya Dance (Krishna Vandana) by the students of our Soft-Skill Class captivated everybody.
The devotees of Margherita Naam-ghar were specially invited on the occasion. The group of the devotees performed quite a few Diha-naams as per the rituals followed in Naam-ghar. This display of rituals enlightened the students and the teachers alike. The celebration came to an end with Prasad distribution.
Teachers’ Day (5th Sept.): The students of Class-XII acted as mock-teachers on the occasion. Later, a few among them including the acting Principal shared their experience. The teachers were felicitated by the students in the common programme in the Prayer Hall. A teacher made a speech on the life and works of Dr. Savepalli Radhakrishnan. After this the students staged various cultural programmes. The students of the Primary Section also celebrated the occasion on 7th September 2011.
Universal Brotherhood Day (11th Sept.): The programmes included a welcome speech by the Principal, a Welcome Song by a group of students, a beautiful presentation of Chicago Speech by a student of Class-VI and felicitation of the Guests, Judges and Escort Teachers.
Thereafter, an Inter-School Declamation Competition was held. 8 schools sent 27 participants in total for the competition. There were participants as well as non-competitors. The response of the invited schools was very encouraging. 5 prizes were bagged by these schools. The cultural programmes were: a Solo Dance, a Duet Devotional Dance and an Instrumental (Flute) recital of “VandeMataram”. The celebration came to an end with the Judge (lecturer of English, Margherita College) appreciating the performance of the participants, followed by the Prize Distribution. Along with the Judge and the Principal, Shri P.N. Rajan, Nominee Chairman, also gave away the prizes to the winners.
National Youth Day (12th Jan 2012): 12th January was celebrated with all gradeur and elegance. Very well planned programme was set and on 10th january the program was inaugurated with a Marathon race which started from Ledo and ended in the school campus.People from different sections had participated. On 12th January, the programme was very successful. The students of KG, entertained each and everyone by their colourful costumes and awesome musical display. The soft -skill students performed decent programmes which were the feathers in the crown. The parents, guests and everyone present on the day were impressed.The chief guest on 12th January was Sri.
